Akilah Wilson’s the founding Director of AP Consulting Ltd. She has overall 18 years’ experience in the insurance industry, notably 15+ years of regulatory experience, having direct and relevant knowledge of all facets of licensing regulations and extensive knowledge of the Bermuda regulatory insurance requirements, including proficiency in regulatory compliance, AML, and risk management.

Most recent business experience includes heading up the Bermuda Compliance function for a Bermuda Class 4 Reinsurer and a new fintech start-up. She was also appointed to the Board of Directors and held the position of Compliance Officer and Money Laundering Reporting Officer.

Previous work experience includes being employed by the Bermuda Monetary Authority as an Assistant Director with responsibility for the licensing and review of all insurance related licensing applications for both captive and commercial insurers. Her work experience includes the review of the operations and business plans for the property and casualty insurance, life business, ILS and the catastrophe bond markets, awareness of the Bermuda Solvency Capital Requirements, various authorizations request and accounting related applications. She also has underwriting experience having worked in the insurance industry as an Assistant Underwriter.

Additional experience includes, providing oversight and consultation on business plan applications and overall strategic direction; oversight of the implementation and monitoring of risk management frameworks for one of Bermuda’s leading insurance managers, risk consulting and new business activity. In addition, responsibility for the provision of insurance advisory and technical support to one of the largest Insurance Linked Securities (ILS) funds in the world.

Most recently she obtained her Diploma in Governance Risk and Compliance, Dip (GRC). She is also a qualified Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) having obtained the designation in 2005. She also holds a Master of Science Degree in Insurance Management from Boston University and obtained her Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Temple University, Fox School of Business and Management; and was a member of the Gamma Iota Sigma Chapter. She was also a Bermuda Foundation for Insurance Studies (BFIS) (2000) and ACE Insurance (2002) scholar. She has also achieved introductory training for understanding the fundamentals of Blockchain technology and cryptocurrency.

She is professional, flexible, and service-oriented; offering a unique combination of creativity and analytical skills with the proven ability to assess overall business operations and organizational structures. Her skills comprise of client relations, writing and analysis, presenting and operational leadership.
